Events & Quests
Events and Quests are active mechanics for roots of the wild. Participating in these functions are one of the main ways to earn character slots. In addition members can gain armor, weapons, tokens, and special items through these.

Events
Events are large, inescapable occurrences within Roots of the Wild that affect all characters, whether they like it or not! Events will very often cause changes to mechanics, like the weather, daily rolls, and the abilities of some classes to perform their class skill. Any changes of this magnitude do not go unnoticed, so do not worry, you'll be given warning! While the event is occurring, new temporary mechanics may come in to play, so be ready for some new experiences! Of course, such events are often great fodder for some art or role play scenarios too, so take full advantage while you can! As is the nature of events in life, in roots, these are temporary, so either enjoy the ride, or gather your provisions and camp it out, and either way it will be over before you know it!
How Events Work
Due to the nature of events, each one will have its own custom set of rules and details. As a blanket statement, most quest rules also apply to event rules in some way.
Similar to Quests, there are different types of events that will be held; be it art or interactive.
All rules and information surrounding an event will be clarified at the time of said event.
Quests
In Roots of the Wild, quests are smaller, optional, fun timed tasks anyone can partake in for a nifty reward! Quests take one of three forms: art/ writing, interactive, and role play. Art/ writing quests take the form of a prompt that you will be expected to work with, offering a reward for a submission of suitable effort which would be detailed in the quests description, and yes, collabs are often allowed! Interactive quests are usually additional rolls done in one of our community servers, you will often be given a command to input unique to the quest, and will be able to follow along the commands as they come to you!
Rewards for these tend to take the form of what ever you get from your directed rolls, with additional prizes often tied to someone finding particular hidden things! Finally, role play quests are larger group role plays, often with Mod direction or at least a mod opening prompt. Rewards are given for adequate participation, but those who go above and beyond will also be given their due! While these are the three usual types, on occasion special quests may happen that take entirely new formats, so expect those to be explained in greater detail when they come!
Quests will always have a time limit and will give an explicit date and time for both the start and end of the quest.

Every other month, when quests occur, they will be posted in the 🔑》quests-board channel, as well as a blog post here on the site!

Members are REQUIRED to sign up for quests via the Quest Sign Up Form

Quest Rules

As of 8/1/2023 - Members are only allowed to sign up for ONE of the member capped quests. (If there are 3 quests that have a member cap, the member can only sign up for one of the 3). If the quest does not fill up within a week of being open - those who have already signed up for other quests will then be able to sign up for other member capped quests.

Art, Writing, and Interactive quests have no deadline for signups as long as they are still running.

RP Quests have a signup window of one week after the date the quest is posted.

RP Quests have a 15-20 minimum post amount to qualify for the rewards of said RP Quest. The total will be specified per quest.

RP quests also have a 2 paragraph maximum. Do not post more than 2 paragraphs in your posts.

You may join rp quests with multiple oc as long as you have the time to keep up with multiples in posting order unless stated otherwise. However you may only roll for special rewards from the first quest you join to make sure everyone has a fair chance to win.

Event and Quest RPs which have a preexisting set reward, whether or not it includes tokens, cannot be submitted for additional token rewards.

RP quests are meant to be mainly member-driven, so mods will typically not be directing, but if you are stuck and need a nudge to move things along, use the @TaleWeaver tag
Quest Vouchers
Sometimes quests get posted and members are unable to sign up for the member capped ones before they fill up. In order to make things a bit more fair for those who miss sign ups, the mod team has come up with a Quest Voucher System.
How it works: If a member was unable to participate in 2 consecutive member capped quests, and have previously signed up for them; they are eligible for a Quest Voucher. To claim this voucher they must DM the Admin Account and mark somewhere in a tracker.
What the voucher does, is guarantees the holder a spot in the next round of member capped quests. The voucher holder has 1 week (or less if the quest calls for it, the mod team will clarify at the time of the quest) to sign up before that spot is open to the rest of the group.

One of the many rituals within the small community is to present offerings to Nayru in the hopes of a good harvest for the year. Description
After an arduous few months, it seems things are finally looking up for Hyrule's inhabitants.
To celebrate the end of winter and our brave Hyruleans overcoming the Blight Bloom and keeping their villages safe, each village will be hosting a ball!
The whole village is putting together a great feast featuring local specialty cuisine, music and entertainment befitting the local style, and a wide-open dance floor that beckons!
There may even be some other events throughout the night of your village's ball~
:bp:Dress code! Your character must dress nicely! (As nicely as they're able, given the conditions of the world and limited resources)
:bp:RSVP is OPEN until the 14th! You can sign up max 2 characters, in 2 separate villages!
:bp:Temporary RP channels will be opened when the RP starts.
:bp:There are only 10 spaces per village currently, so RSVP soon! If there's enough demand we will increase the spaces. You can swap which character you want to attend, if needed!
:bp:Characters can only attend the ball of their home village, as travel is currently not safe post-Blight Bloom.
:bp:Blighted characters are not allowed to attend!!
After the 10th, there will be a 4-day window for additional sign-ups if there are any open spots left in any of the villages. Remember, you can only attend a village's ball with a character who is a resident of that village!

Description
The day before the Blood Moon, small fox-like beings began appearing in the villages, seeking refuge from the oncoming hardship. Apparently, these creatures- Keatons, they call themselves, have been holed up in 'dens' - small communities for survival out in the wilds for centuries, miles away from any of the three villages of Rudania, Inariko and Vhintl. They've been separated for so long that they'd thought that the villages had fully succumbed to blight, and that they were the only sapient race left living in Hyrule....

Much to their delight, this proved wrong when they sent out magical 'beacons' - enchanted bells which would go about Hyrule, finding and leading any of their kin who might still be out there back to the few still remaining 'safe' places post Blight Bloom.
Gradually, the bells went far enough to start attracting attention from the other races....

Description
Leaves are falling, the days growing shorter and colder. This time of year is the time when citizens of Hyrule harvest their crops. But trouble is afoot! A blood moon is going to occur at the end of the month and each day that nears it brings strange happenings.
Some crops are coming to life as blighted monsters!
From October 20th to November 1st blighted scarecrows, pumpkins and corn will appear in the ROTW Discord so keep an eye out!

The three individuals who obtain the highest rarity parts get an extra 100 tokens.
Description
A strange individual has been spotted on the outskirts of the village for the past few nights. They wear a mask and eccentric clothing of a monstrous nature so no one knows what they really look like, and they always have a portable 'booth' with them.
Their wares are exotic and disturbing, consisting almost entirely of monster parts.
On the weekend of October 16th (Fri) through the 18th (Sun), any Vhintl resident can roll once per day (or night, in Hyrule time) to barter with the strange visitor, the success of which will be determined by the value of the roll.
ALL monster parts will be available for this quest, including those which haven't been unlocked yet. At the end of the event, the three individuals who managed to talk the visitor out of the most impressive and rare monster parts will get an extra reward.

Description
Magical snowmen are appearing around the Server! When one pops up in a channel during the event, be sure to quickly /roll 1d20 with flavor text (/roll 1d20 #Text Here but no commas 'cause it messes it up!) to hit them with a snowball, until someone gets a 20! No copy-pasting. Each sentence must be a unique line of your OC trying to hit the snowman. Keep your eyes open because they could show up anywhere....
First person to get a 20 succeeds. Multiple rolls may be made in succession until someone gets it!

Description
No one is really sure why so many blupee appeared all of a sudden. Some villagers speculate that maybe it has to do with the keatons, unlikely as it is. But given all of the struggle and pain these past few months from the Blight, the glowing soft creatures are a welcome site.
Village elders share stories about how they heard of blupees, but in those stories, the blupees ran or disappeared. The sight of many blupees lingering, allowing people to cuddle and play with them was an oddity at best, an omen at worst to the more suspicious lot.
The phenomenon was previously unheard of.
As the night draws on, the blupees depart to their dens and burrows to rest. Who knows? Maybe they'll visit again to play.
