Grottos are sealed off stumps that can be discovered while exploring. Explorers may find them while searching quadrants. These grottos can be found anywhere in the world, as lone stumps or wedged roots between rocks. They are always covered in strange strings and talismans that seem to be of the sheikah, which seems to seal the blight infecting the grotto.
Once unsealed they can be explored at which point anything could happen, perhaps a little test of wit? Strength? Perhaps it will test you to your limits, gather up your items and find the courage to explore.

Grottos can only be unsealed with a Goddess Plume, if you do not have a plume at the start of the exploration, they can still be marked on the map for a later date.
Unsealing the Grotto
Upon finding a Grotto you will be met with a prompt!
"After exploring for a while longer you stumble across an interesting looking stump with heavy roots tightly entangled over each other. It’s covered in talismans with words you cannot comprehend and the roots look heavily infected with blight. Do you have the means to cleanse them?”
Yes
↳ /tableroll grotto (cost 1 goddess plume + 1🟩)
No (mark it on the map for later!)
↳ /tableroll explore (Eldin/Lanayru/Faron)
An explorer with an available plume will then be able to roll /tableroll grotto and find out what challenge the explorers will face and if it seems like too much to take on at the moment you can always come back to it later.
Be aware, you may find challenges in the grotto you cannot back out of, proceed with caution!
Completing a grotto will grant the involved explorers a spirit orb!

Types
There are 5 potential trials to come across when entering a Grotto.
Blessings: As it says, it’s a simple blessing where no trial is had! You may collect the reward you find~
Target Practice: It seems whatever once dwelled in this grotto left behind a balloon or two for you to practice your aim!
Puzzles: The previous dwellers of this place seem to enjoy puzzles of sorts! Who knows what they want you to figure out…
Test of Power: Oh… how scary! Some grottos carry difficult trials of strength, be ready and prepare yourself for what you may face as you’re put to the test!
Mazes: Some grottos hide large mazes within! Be careful and stay together, all decisions here must be made with care and consideration! Any light from the entrance hardly seems to permeate the darkness near the entrance…

Steps
Mazes
Mazes are currently the most involved of all trials, you will require mod support to run this trial and will be prompted upon discovery! Once things are set in motion, a mod will help you progress through a blacked out map.
Progressing through the maze will usually go as followed:
1. You will start at the beginning of the maze, if you are not alone, you will decide together as a group to progress in one direction.

You will be presented with options to take specific paths. Please react to the message requesting this decision with one of the appropriate arrow emojis: ⬅️ for left, ➡️ for right, ⬆️ for straight, or ⬇️ for back. Once your group has decided, @mod to confirm your choice.
A mod will confirm your new location once a decision is made.
2. If you come to a wall, a character with the job perk Entertaining within the group will allow you to roll a different table to make getting through the wall easier with a certain Song of Scrying. One person, whether a character with the job perk Entertaining or not, is allowed to attempt to /tableroll mazen for groups without character with the job perk Entertaining or /tableroll mazep for groups with a character with the job perk Entertaining.

3. If you encounter monsters within, you will have to fight them and succeed to continue within the maze. Remember to establish a turn order! Traps and chests may also be in the maze and your mod will tell you if they are.

4. Fail or succeed! If you choose to leave without a total party knockout, you can receive a partial map of the maze your group explored. If you fail via knockout, no map! If you succeed, everyone gets a goddess plume and you must remember to choose a name together for the shrine you’ve mastered.
Tests of Power
Tests of power are the second most involved of the trials that grottos have to offer. They are the only trials that do not let you leave, unless your entire party is KO’d as you engage in a difficult boss battle immediately upon entry. These are intended to be difficult challenges.
During your test of power, you must:
1. Establish a turn order! Talking strategy before the fight might help - do you want to save all fairies until the end, are you only healing when under a certain number of hearts, etc.

2. Fight! It is just as straightforward as the raids.

3. Fail or succeed! You can only fail by KOing in which case you follow exploring KO protocols. If you succeed, every character in the group gets a spirit orb!
Target Practice
Next most involved is target practices! In target practices, explorers are tasked with shooting and hitting blimps that are flying around. The text is purposely vague so that characters can be flavored as shooting bows, slingshots, or even hurling their pets at the blimps.
Target Practice will entail:
1. You will need to establish a turn order.

2. Tableroll /tableroll targetpractice until one of the group either fails the challenge, sending you out of the grotto, or you succeed.

3. Fail or succeed! If you fail, you can travel back to the grotto on a different expedition. If you succeed, everyone in the party earns a spirit orb.
Puzzles
Puzzles are simple and straightforward. You will either be required to finish building an unfinished structure or to supply a very specific item from Roots of the Wild that corresponds to a passage of a mysterious journal.
Puzzles have these steps:
1. Discuss with your group what to do! If you didn’t happen to load up on building materials, you may leave. If you have a puzzle with a riddle, discuss what to offer.

2. Do your offering! If you are building a structure, you fill out the offering form addressed to the Odd Structure. If you are attempting a riddle, you fill out the offering form addressed to the Offering Statue.

✬ TRANSFER ✬

Description: Flavor text is allowed!
3. Fail or succeed! A mod will either approve or deny your transfer - if denied you have still lost the items offered. If approved, you have succeeded and the party has earned a spirit orb!
For any puzzle grotto types that necessitate specific items for entry, ten of such items will constitute one bundle, occupying a single item slot.
Additionally, these types of grottos must be completed in one go; all required items must be present at the time of solving. Incremental contributions are not valid.
10 items = 1 bundle = 1 item slot
