Q:Hi Mods! Exploring suggestion here! I believe I brought this up once before, but I'd like to bring it up again. Now that a lot of Goddess Plumes are being distributed to the masses, Grottos are being discovered, opened, and cleared, I've noticed that there is no method for tracking on the master exploring map on the website which Grottos have been cleared. While it might be safe to assume a Grotto on a secured square is cleared, there is a secured square with two Grottos on it with no indication of which one has been cleared. I would like to request again that we make use of a Goddess Plume icon to mark opened Grottos, and a Spirit Orb icon to mark cleared Grottos so there is no future confusion about which ones have been done already. Thank you so much!! A:We think this a great suggestion and we'll be moving forward with this idea! We'll be implementing this and updating the maps soon! Q: There is such an unbalance in the number of Grottos in Faron compared to the number of Grottos in the other regions. While some of this can be attributed to people preferring to explore in Lanayru and Eldin, the Faron exploration table almost feels punishing by comparison with very little reward since the last table adjustment to reduce the chances of finding Grottos. Perhaps it's just my imagination, but the Faron table feels extremely hostile in terms of monster encounters in the RNG compared to the other two, and I'm not the only one who's pointed it out. Any chance you can adjust the weights of exploreFaron at some point, even just a little bit to give a bit more incentive to explore such a neglected region? A:We've reviewed the tables in case there may have been some kind of imbalance but we've confirmed that everything is essentially a copy/paste of the other tables with the only variation being names of monsters and items of course. It does in fact seem to just be a matter of the luck of the dice and the fewer explorations in Faron as opposed to Lanayru and Eldin that make it seem that way! At this time we've decided against changing the tables, we can only suggest people take initiative even if they're hesitant as there is no difference between the tables, it's simply the dice!

We will start with regular suggestions and requests, but we will address a very important concern brought to us at the end, we hope that you will read it! Q: Hello! Visually Impaired person here. I am suggesting/requesting that the small text formatting that is done by some members and moderators is not done as much! Discord already has a hard to read interface and the small text does not make it any easier! Thank you! A: Thank you for letting us know! We mods as a team have come to the agreement not to use this formatting for the sake of accessibility on our part, and we encourage other members do so as well to make roots more accessible for everyone! Q: Member Event role! As someone who makes a lot of member events it can be hard to get everyone's attention through word of mouth in fast moving channels. Being able to use a ping for people interested in participating in member events to reach everyone all at once would be so helpful. Thanks a lot!! Posting this in the suggestion box as requested: I'd asked about it months ago, but it seems like there's multiple members that really think we'd benefit from having a opt-in Members Event role or something so that people can ping anybody interested when they host a member event in the Promoting channel. The channel is so out of the way in the server, it makes it really easy to miss a sign-up period and not all member events are mentioned in the Announcements channel. It'd be really great, hope you guys consider! A: We've decided that with the popularity of member run events, for ease of access both for both event runners and members, that we are adding a Member Event role! You can find it in #🔔》roles in the server! Please keep in mind that its totally opt-in but it's the best way to be notified from this point on of new member events! Even organizers can now use this role to both notify members of the initial post, and use it going forward to update participants. Those were all the regular suggestions we've gotten, now we are going to address a serious concern. The mod team has received and discussed a concern that was brought up to us through the suggestions box earlier in the month and while we are posting most of the message in full, please note we are only removing the name of the member named here for their privacy but we feel it necessary for transparency sake we show the message in full otherwise. It reads as follows: "Hey. Really not impressed by the behavior shown by chari and Mata in relation to [Member]'s blighting. Especially Chari kind of openly mocking [them]. Extremely condescending and petty tone. And just really surprised multiple mods would act this way openly towards a member. We get it, it would be so easy for you to finish the prompt and you see a member struggling and can't relate, so the instinct is to punch down. Not a single helpful thing was said besides basically "just do it". I think keeping your comments to yourself would be more helpful." As stated, we've discussed this thoroughly and while of course the mods in question had no intent to mock the member, the fact is that it was seen and taken that way regardless and created genuine harm. It also means we still have a lot of work to do to provide a space and energy in which members feel comfortable with us that what was initially meant as a playful poke was seen as hostile and did in the end create a dogpile, and for that we apologize and promise to refrain from such actions in the future. Apologies were given to the member in question, both by the mods named as well as a collective apology from our mod team for failure to act on it sooner. We know that it is our responsibility as mods to nurture an environment where this does not happen and we are meant to be leading by example to show other members what is and isn't acceptable behavior, and as well intentioned as we believe ourselves to be we are also learning to grow as a team and mod effectively as well as compassionately. Our only frame of reference to measure if we are doing a good job is through member feedback and it is clear there is still more work to be done, and we thank you for bringing this to our attention and we are sorry for the harm and unease this has caused. Thank you for reading, Mod team

Q: Any chance we can have an update on the status of Twili? Will they be back sometime in 2025? Are Twili gone forever? With Twili being no longer the overpopulous race and a lot of past members who had them have already come and gone, would it be possible to temporarily open a few twili slots to those that are waiting/want to make them? Any chance we can have an update on the status of Twili? Will they be back sometime in 2025? A: We're excited to announce that Twili are indeed making a return in 2025! However, there will be some adjustments to ensure balance and preserve the uniqueness of this race. Membership Requirements: To create a Twili, members must have been part of the group for at least 1 year with no periods of inactivity. Slot Limitations: Twili slots will be limited, and members will only be allowed to create one Twili character each. Q: Can token bankruptcy be an option for blight cleansing no matter what prompt you get? Sometimes I do not want to draw or write for a blight healing due to personal life situations, so it would be nice if there was a bankruptcy option like there is for gift prompts. I'd rather be broke than to have a character at risk of dying because I get busy. Joining the petition for token-bankruptcy to be an option for all blight healing prompts! A slight addition to the blight tokens suggestions! Maybe just make it a flat 3000 tokens? Since that lines up with the token rewards for doing 10 quests, prevents people from just selling a random item or two if they already have no tokens, and stops people from abusing it, while still taking a sizable chunk of tokens. A: We’re introducing a new bankruptcy option for Blight healing prompts alongside the rollout of the new bot! This will allow members to forfeit all their tokens instead of completing the prompt. This way, you can focus on other aspects of your life without worrying about losing a character due to time constraints. However, we’d like to gently remind everyone that being Blighted is entirely optional. If you’re unsure whether you’ll have the time or capacity to complete prompts, we recommend avoiding participation in activities that may result in being Blighted until you’re confident you have the availability. Q: I'm sure stablehands as a job are getting discussed so feel free to ignore this otherwise, but!! if they DONT have a mechanic coming/if this isn't coming in general--a way to upgrade mounts would be nice? kinda like how you can do it in totk--maybe offer the stablehand a set amount of items that the mods dictate, and your mount gets one extra stamina, capped at 6. or if you want the rare mount colors--maybe the stam doesn't change, but you can upgrade their color. like using 10 star fragments to make a mount gold, or 10 freezard waters to make something white or frosty. this is just musing though! The only actual thing I'm thinking about besides color upgrades, is really what mount travel will look like when paired with exploring in the future, and whether it'll be best that everyone has mounts with the same stamina. A: With the rollout of the new bot, we’re introducing expanded functionality for Stablehands! Here’s a sneak peek of what’s coming: Mount Care: Stablehands will be responsible for tending to mounts. Customization: Stablehands can dye certain parts of certain mounts. Breeding: Stablehands can breed mounts to get better traits and stats. Q: When it comes to the vendor jobs being able to sell their own items through their shops, I had two quick considerations! First, is that it would be nice if it's exclusive to shopkeepers, since merchants still overall have the better deal when it comes to a selection of goods. Secondly, could adding an OCs items to their store be as simple as a transfer form? Even one that has an add-on just saying these items are submitted/forfeited to the store and cannot be transferred back? I know there's not a huge ton of shopkeepers right now so the demand probably isn't super high, but was just curious nonetheless! A: The bot will have considerations for each of these things upon launch! Shopkeeper Perks: Shopkeepers will now have an increased chance of acquiring rarer and more valuable items compared to merchants. Personal Inventory Vending Options: With the bot, you’ll have streamlined options to sell your own inventory items directly through your shop.

Q: NSFW streaming channel pretty please? A: We mods have discussed this, and as there seems to be genuine interest, we will roll out a system soon where in people may request the NSFW stream channel to be opened. A mod will have to be present in the chat for the duration of its use, and it will be put away again, once the stream is concluded. We will announce when this is ready to go! Q: I've talked to a few people who all seem to have different ideas about the results of the Inariko Impact and ultimately I just feel kinda confused. It would be nice if there was an official summary that ALSO gives an idea of the "resolution" of the Impact. Some people are under the impression that NPCs died and others have said people had just been hurt. I think the vagueness makes it difficult to know how to handle/move forward with certain plots. Something that I think could be fun is to have a "chronicler", or a "scribe" as a job, where people can turn in summaries of important events to put on the website (after mod approval); it would make sense for there to be people in-universe who record history, and I think it's important that there's a solid account of things that happened, especially for new members who weren't present for important in-group events. A: After discussion, it has been concluded that, as this WAS a member run event and not a mod event, any major summary must be made by the members. With that said, if the members come together and make a summary of the event and submit it to us, we will happily post it somewhere for official chronicling. We leave the assignment or cooperation of such a write up to you all. We also feel obliged to mention, there does exist a smaller summary in the Lore page on the website. Further more, as to the idea of a chronicler or scribe, these are just tasks that could be covered by researcher in universe. We would like to remind you all that you are free to have alternate interpretations to the job mechanics to fit your character's niches.

Q: Hello mods! I have a suggestion for the yearly Halloween art prompt. This year instead of "dress as a character from the Zelda series" can we do "dress as a character from any video game other than Zelda" (or also include TotK cuz that is new)? I think that would be a fun mix-up for this prompt! It's getting a little tough to come up with a fresh new answer for the same prompt multiple years in a row lol A: :) Q: The purple stone chuchus from wind waker! Someone brought up that they would be cute twili pets because they also can’t go out in the light, but they would be a cute little addition even if it’s just cosmetic, or just for an event! Nothing like entering a room full of statues, and the moment the lights go out, the statues move hehe A: At this time, we are not planning not add new Chuchu variations, however we will keep this one in mind! Who knows what will be found in the Wilds now that exploration is launched! Q: Can we get rid of chibi and just consider them full body? Chibi it's a style, and it just feels weird to dock on someone's style. That's also how I feel on making pixel and cel (full color) lesser than paintitng. A: We will not be modifying the art categories at this time. The realm of what is Chibi verses style can sometimes be hard to tell, but the way we have and will continue to score it is that Chibi represents a simplified, low detail figure. Having a cute style does not mean your work is chibi, and of course, we are willing to discuss the peices with you through the @ mod account. Q: Now that the group has found a handful of chests on expeditions, I have noticed the "junk" items next to some extremely valuable ones, for example, the Ancient Gear with the Spirit Orb, and an Ancient Screw with the Goddess Plume. While I can understand this was likely done with the intent to balance chests, to be in a party where one person walks away with an extremely valuable item while you walk away with something essentially worthless both in terms of token value, and actual mechanical use could be disheartening, even discouraging, especially given how uncommon and special finding a chest while exploring actually is. Chests should have important things in it. Not everything should be of high value for the sake of balance, of course, but nothing should be useless. I would really like to suggest these "junk" items be replaced with something a little more worthwhile. Such as Eldin Ore that could be used to pave a road in the future or go towards a character's equipment, Iron/Silver/Gold bars, perhaps even a Potion that could go towards a future expedition, or healing items like a Fairy that perhaps decided to watch over the chest. While being a good sport is expected in a game with so much RNG, it can sting to have the people around you get fun and exciting items while you have to settle for something you have no real use for, and has no real value. A: We have no plans to change the content of the treasure chests. The tiers of items within the chest are meant to represent the full gambit from ultra rare treasure to common items. To add four ultra rare items would heavily imbalance the contents of the chests. Explorers are welcome to divy out the treasure in an alternate means if they really are all OK with this, and are also welcome to trade their winnings if they make it back. Q: It would be nice if the server birthday message would mention collecting your coupon/tokens, so people don't forget so much. Alternatively, a grace period for collecting it? (Even if the coupon expires at the same time [a week from your birthday], it would probably be helpful for folks who don't remember until a few days later lolol) A: We can add mention of collecting the birthday bonus! We will not be adding a grace period however as this is not something the mod team has the bandwidth to keep track of at the moment Q: with all of the mechanics in roots and how filled up the townhalls can get, i was wondering if it's even appropriate to be pinging mods for things like daily gathering/looting rolls. nothing needs to be checkmarked on those rolls, and mods don't check inventories to make sure the proper item was added or anything, so it seems like a superfluous ping. similarly, pinging mods and waiting for checkmarks on transfers between your own characters also feels unnecessary--regardless of whether or not a new bot will make transfers smoother, right now the current bot/system works against those in timezones that don't line up with the majority of the mod team, and transfers are just about moving items you already own. mods also checkmark but don't check inventory for them, so would it be possible to just have transfers between your own inventories work on a trust based system, rather than waiting for mod approval? it just seems like one thing that can be smoothed out while we still have current systems in place A: We understand your concerns, especially with how busy town halls can get and the time zone differences that might impact some players. However, we want to clarify that mods do indeed check items and inventories during transfers, daily rolls, and similar actions. It’s an important part of ensuring the system runs smoothly and fairly for everyone. At this time, we will not be changing the current process, as once the new bot goes live, the way transferring, gifting, and similar mechanics work will change significantly. Once these changes are made updates to the way these mechanics work will be updated via the website. TLDR: We don't want to have to change how its done twice so close together. Q: Is there a reason why the mods are so quick to be combative? Members will entirely explain a point of issue and have the consensus view of the other members but the tone in return from mods is extremely punishing for not going along with everything, complaint free. The suggestion box seems to only be brought up to derail things when people are making too much sense and the mods dont want the discussion to continue in the server. I feel like members have to actively work around mod decisions to keep a happy place in a world they want to try to be invested in. Do members not assist with boosting the server for fake little money and out of their love for roots? I guess it just doesn't feel very collaborative here anymore A: We understand your concerns, and we want to reassure you that the mod team is not combative or dismissive of member feedback. We truly value open communication, and we welcome any thoughts or concerns that members have. However, we encourage everyone to post these issues in the suggestion box. This allows us to address them properly and ensures that nothing slips through the cracks. It’s the best way to ensure that everyone's voice is heard and that we can take time to consider and respond thoughtfully. Roots has, in the past, seen situations where discussions around issues have spiraled into what some call "doom posting," where concerns snowball and create more tension than the original issue. Our goal as mods is to maintain a positive and peaceful environment for everyone, and sometimes that means being a bit more strict in our responses to keep things from escalating unnecessarily. We strive to be fair and hear out all concerns. If our approach seems strict at times, it's because we're working to protect the community atmosphere. As for boosting, it’s entirely optional and something that members do out of their love for the server. There's no pressure or requirement for anyone to boost if they don't want to. We hope this clarifies our intentions, and we genuinely appreciate the support members like you provide. We're always open to dialogue and want to keep Roots a collaborative, welcoming space for everyone! Q: HC channel adjustments please! The bot can be helpful, but it shouldn't take precedent over active conversation. Maybe having a channel specifically for prompts to generate and a channel strictly for discussion might help so they don't get buried? A: We are actively modifying the way QOTD's work. We hope to have a conclusion on this by November. If your suggestion is not here and you have asked it please let us know! We strive to answer each one but sometimes they slip through the cracks!

Q: The lack of rp in the main server when I joined and lack of place to discuss anything beyond hoping someone grabs you in rp link up has made it pretty much impossible to actually get started with understanding literally anything going on in the server. There is such a massive lack of explanation for how mechanics work like rolling and crafting and proper etiquette for rps that it has made it hard to rp in the server. Which is a shame because the setting is super cool. A: We try to keep several topics organized into appropriate channels to prevent important things from getting buried, for example, a call to RP in the general chat would quickly disappear in a sea of other comments. As for mechanics being unexplained, we have detailed explanations and guides on our website, and these are also linked in the Rules and or Mechanics channel. On the topic of RP etiquette, this is to be discussed or established with your partner or partners and is not something we have any intention to moderate or control, barring that we request participants remain respectful and that they keep NSFW content out of normal servers. Q: For the Month Long RP quest skips, what if it's an issue of timezone? I do not want to get skipped/receive a penalty/dropped from RP because I had slept through a segment at the wrong time. A: We have taken this suggestion and modified our method to be more reflective of that, instead being more accommodating to time while still allowing and encouraging the RP to not get jammed or held beyond the allotted time. Q: Push to Talk is too tedious. I have to fill the message bar with a single key just so I can be heard consistently. I'd like it if the VC calls were set to Voice Activity. Additionally, I think there should be a Voice Call chat channel for ppl that want to be in the conversation, but can't talk in call. A: We have taken this suggestion and made VC calls operate of personal settings. Q: Village boards for each village to look for roleplays and such, instead of using the community board channel for all villages A: We have now separated the village RP and Community boards to allow things to be easier followed and found. Q: Having weekly art/RP prompts with small participation rewards might help get some more activity in between events. Nothing high maintenance, just some fun prompts to get members doing things in between the big stuff. A: This is a bit much for us to be able to come up with, much less implement. But that does not mean that you, the members cannot suggest or come up with fun challenges for one another! It is as much your group as ours, so feel free to throw ideas out to one another freely! Q: Respectfully, I would like to mention that I have observed bias in how misgendering is handled by the moderators, and in many if not all of these cases, it is in favour of non binary members and OCs; I have only seen correction/warnings only happens in these instances. I am aware that it has happened most often in these cases, but I do not see that same consideration being extended to male or female OCs, who I have seen been referred to as they/them in cases when that pronoun is not listed on the characters’ apps at all, yet no one seems to bat an eye at that when it happens. While on the other hand, in the case of nb OCs, people tend to be very quick to correct it. Simply put, I would hope that same level of consideration would be extended to all members and OCs, in all situations it happens in. Not just for nb ones. A: They/ Them are a pronoun set that can be applied more universally and safely than more specific or gendered pronouns. While we would like for members to be more respectful and diligent in correctly gender OCs, we feel that They/Them is an acceptable neutral pronoun to use and will not consider this an official instance of misgendering. You are, however, always welcome to express with others what pronoun you’d prefer them to use. Q: Hey, not sure if the admin team knew of this but MEE6 did put up a tweet on their Twitter earlier this month saying, more or less, they're accepting that they can be used for NFTs. So even if due to the backlash MEE6 deleted the tweet, you may want to find a alt bot to take it's place. A: While we are less than thrilled with that choice, we will be sticking with MEE6 for the foreseeable future, as it has the lion’s share of features we need here in roots. However, we are always open to suggestions or recommendations for new bot tools to be a backup or even a future main bot! Q: (i have no idea what you guys are thinking about implementing. i have a lot of thoughts feel free to disregard all of them LOL) i think having a dedicated voice chat category is probably the way to go? i don't think a lot would be necessary for roots, probably like. a general chat for talking/games/etc and maybe another one for more dedicated streams. possibly a 3rd if people decide they want to do Group Gaming? i think you could also get away with just having a singular vc-text channel, i don't imagine roots vcs will be like. super overwhelming except maybe for the first week-ish i know some servers have been outfitted with a beta feature that basically makes a built-in vc thread per voice channel, but idk if roots has that yet :P i just know that off-topic tends to get cluttered during stream nights, but in pretty much every server i've been in, only one vc text was necessary. i say this specifically because some people want a vc text for EVERY voice channel and as a result you have like 5 channels no one uses lmao ok thats all i think THANKS FOR READING <3 MWAH A: We have decided to stick to one single VC channel as that seems to satisfy demand adequately. Q: i feel like it's kind of hard to get rps going- the only way to really start something up is to dm someone, and i'm not particularly comfortable just going into people's dms if i don't know them well. honestly, i want to keep roots things INSIDE the roots server as much as possible. i would really enjoy either having a channel for planning threads and roleplays, or being able to make threads in rp-link-up so that people can discuss roleplays without potentially being talked over in gossip stone or burying people's rp requests in rp-link-up. on a related note, i'm not sure i understand why we have a thread tracker? all the thread links get deleted when they're archived anyways, so no matter what you'll have to go look at the channel's threads to see what's in there. i'm also not sure most of us are particularly interested in keeping track of everyone else's roleplays, since roots is kind of a big group lol A: At the moment we do not feel the need to change the RP request thread. The headcanons thread has been serving as a good way to invite or plan RPs with members outside of DMs. As for the thread trackers, this feature has been discontinued. Q: Ancient robot NPC species! It could be a species that's only attached to characters to be more accurate to SS since they aren't fully sentient and could be like assistant shopkeepers for vending jobs or helper bots for craftsmen and weavers! Even if it just was an art event for redesigning your OCs as ancient robots for tokens, I would give my soul for more ancient robot content (and they got votes in the poll for what races should be added to Roots! Mogmas got more tho) A: We do not have plans to add a new species (at the moment) but rest assured, the mod team has been spit balling ideas and potential ways to involve the ancient robots. Q: Another general chat. The current one is very busy, and has 3-4 different conversations happening at once which can be overwhelming, confusing, or make it hard to jump in. Possibly making another general chat or ooc chat focused on reactions/responses to stuff happening in RPs or the rolling channels could help. The chat wouldn't be enforced to be only for those, but would help those feeling overwhelmed, and be more welcoming to shyer members. A: We have implemented the Mossy chat, which enforces a timer between messages. This forces a slower and more relaxed chatting experience. Q: Wagon Mechanic for players with horses! Pros: You get to take a few more people with you in your journey, maybe three more. Cons: Rider is more vulnerable to monster attacks and may lose hearts/stamina more easily. If the rider gets knocked down all the party restarts back on their previous checkpoint! This could be a fun mechanic that gives that DND party feel, and could even encourage some trading too maybe! Would be fun if stronger monsters were introduced and the entire party get to have a shot at one to defend the wagon. (as in 4 players roll a dice against a strong enemy to see if they defeat it) Just some suggestions but the mechanics can be much simpler for sure, anything with a wagon would be really fun! A: At the moment, this is a bit too complicated to implement with what is intentionally a faster and more simple system, however we will keep this in mind if ever we want to iterate on our travel system. Q: Collecting a certain amount of chuchu jellies can allow a player to condense them into a chuchu egg? A: We have decided to implement this! You may now trade in a large amount of jelly for an appropriately coloured Chuchu egg! Information on how this works will be added soon! Q: White Wolfos for Inariko. They're a wolfos enemy in the ice dungeon area in ocarina of time. They appear nowhere else that is not ice/water areas. They're also in twilight princess. A: At the moment, we will not be introducing a Wolfos for to inariko, but that does not mean one will never show up! Q: it would be sooo nice if we could treat job vouchers as like, a user currency rather than as materials in character's inventories— something more like tokens or spirit orbs or something. that way you don't have to swap them between characters and they're all in one place A: We have no intention to change the format of Job Vouchers at this time. As they can be bought in the shops, as well as earned in out of character games, we do not feel the need to make them treated like the currency system, it is very easy to pass them between OCs with existing systems. Q: oceans and boats !! A: Ultimately, this is a group about Hyrule, as such we have no plans to explore past its boarders. However, boats can be revisited when the map is expanded to major lakes and rivers. Q: When we do expeditions to expand the map out into the blight can Rudania's first one please be going out toward the ocean via the river above the waterfall into Lake Akkala? Go along the eastern shore of the lake, scope out where Terry Town used to be, and then a quick gentle sloping grassy hill down to the ocean. Please y.y I want San to get to experience the ocean A: Once released, the players will have control of where expeditions are performed! If you wish to head that direction, you will be able to do so! Q: May I request wheat go on the Rudania farmer table please.. also rice. Give Rudania rice and wheat >:) (mostly I think wheat would be really fitting in Rudania, they've got the open exposed field space for wheat growing and Taika needs to bake fish pies) I'm looking at this page https://www.rootsofthewild.com/jobperk-gathering Also on this page it says "Inarko" instead of Inariko ALSO ALSO a !command for this suggestion box page would be nice A: Rice and Wheat will be farmable in other locations for the time being. We have implemented the ! command for the suggestion box. Q: it would be nice to be able to turn gold/silver ore into its equivalent dust A: We do not see a current reason to implement that. Q: Character compendium forum/threads. A: We do not currently plan to make use of forums. Characters can be found easily enough in the roster channel. Q: Can we just do the green checkmarks in the roster channel without the extra member reacts on characters? Its just fun but some people get practically ignored in roster while others get a bunch. It feels like that'd hurt some members feelings and discourage them only getting 2-3 reacts while other members get 9-12. It also clutters the channel. A: We do not plan to restrict people reacting to apps in the character roster channel. We cannot and will not attempt to control how people feel about characters. Q: HELLO back in my brief mod stint I put a ton of work into this old version of an Expedition Mechanic and it wounds me to this day that it was thrown in the trash with zero feedback of any kind from anyone..! It's drafted for a proto-tableroll more hands-on-modding Roots of yore, but I think a lot of it could still be repurposed or even just used to inspire things in the current Exploration Mechanic. At the very least there's a lot of things that could be fun to put in tablerolls for random encounters :vc A: While we appreciate all your work, this was not the direction we want to go with the exploring mechanic. We always invite any ideas to be expressed however. Q: Oh while I'm digging around my ancient drive folder of old mod stuff... Hey mods can I run this event lmao. This is what Spiderbite Ruins was supposed to be A: You are welcome to submit a plan to run this as a member run event, but the current mod team has no plans to run this older event at this time. Q: The option to exchange 10 quests for 1 spirit orb OR 1 character slot would be great. Not every quest gives out spirit orbs, and some quests that do are member capped, and a lot of the quests that gave out spirit orbs required some time investment that not everyone was free to give (Ie, RP quests). I think it would be a good way to encourage general participation as well, since not everyone can be here for every long quest, but can participate in art quests and shorter interactive quests like galloping ghouls. A: We have decided to allow 10 quests to be exchangeable for a spirit orb as an alternative option instead of a character slot! Q: Some suggestions for Potion buffs? Using a Potion grants you a 1 day buff, and must be used before a roll occurs Mighty Elixir - Lets you reroll a failed attack roll Tough Elixir - Lets you take half damage instead of full damage A: We thank you for these suggestions and will revisit them when we work on the boosting and buffing mechanics! Q: Can healing be made a bit less complicated if someone wants to heal their character on their own? Because if they wanna do daily rolls on their own, (with their character lacking fairies) but due to a busy/unpredictable schedule they cannot reliably ping a healer to help their KO'd character or be unable to notice someone reaching out with their healer to heal their character, what then? Maybe the heal on Sunday could come back but they only regen a heart, or half a heart maybe, thus leaving the option to get healed by a healer or to use an item. Items being more immediate but needs to be bought or so to replenish or Healers giving a full restore but may take a bit of time to fill out the healing posts. A: At this time, we have no plans to change the healer mechanic. So far, we have noticed the abundance of healing items, and the ease with which people can produce and trade them, has made self healing very easy in the group. Q: If ever there is a future app remodel, can I suggest putting somewhere on it a box to for your character's original join date? I remember people being bummed when the group implemented the Roster channel cuz your original post gets deleted for app updates. But make it optional, like the "originally submitted" box can be hidden completely, cuz not everyone can remember when they originally submitted their characters lol A: At this time, we have no plans to modify the character apps, but you are more than welcome to add the original application date to the written portion of the app, if you like. Q: Multi-class A: At the moment, we do not intend to allow for multiclassing, as the ease of acquiring Job Vouchers, and the ability to change professions once per 3 months has been deemed acceptable ways to practice multiple trades. Q: Goron Spice currently heals 3 hearts, while stuff cooked from Goron Spice, like Crab Stir-fry, heals less than that (2 hearts for this example). Mods, will you do me a huge favor, and make consuming pure Goron Spice harm a character lmao. Make it subtract hearts instead. (I think it would be fun if more 'food' items did this, like eating raw monster parts, or rock-hard and dubious food too. Unless you're a goron then you can eat rocks lol) A: We have adjusted and fixed this issue. While we do not plan to make consumables take away hearts, we have adjusted the edibility of items to more appropriate levels. Q: TL:DR; Stamina should recover +1 with every rollover (as in: every time the Tingle weather bot updates). --- Stamina, as of submitting this suggestion, recovers as follows: > Recovers naturally once per day, only on days not being used. Does not replenish in full on Sundays. There was some confusion on how stamina usage and recovery applied when this rule is in effect. It seems that the conclusion that was drawn is that one needed to wait 24 hours after using stamina in order to recover it. Because there was confusion on this rule and mixed information that followed in Discord discussions, it would benefit to have a clearer and concise means of what a "day" of use/non-usage is in this case. Thank you all for your hard work as always! A: We always count a new day as the roll over of the weather bot! We hope this clears the issue up. Q: For mount encounters! Hello it's Ra Can we please pay for traits that we DON'T want as an option if we want to randomly roll for that trait? Like, you have the option to pay twenty tokens to pick your horse's eye color, or you have the option to pay twenty tokens to eliminate the color blue when you randomly roll for your horse's eye color. Or forty tokens to eliminate both blue and green. For instance. It would be extremely easy to implement, all Chari would need to do is roll a dice with one less side when randomly generating that trait. If blue eyes is trait number 3 on a five sided die, then taking it out makes it a four sided die, and trait 4 is now number 3, trait 5 is now number 4. Very simple fix to let us have the fun of a surprise mount appearance without as much chance of us rolling the ugliest combo that makes us immediately disappointed in our brand new mount lmao A: Unfortunately, there is no clear or easy way for this to work. If you want to curate your tables, you may just pay to customize the horse, and randomize the traits in your own way, such as rolling a dice or flipping a coin and disregarding results you do not like. Q: Could horse appearance traits be simpler in the way the other mount traits are? It's a little silly that small details such as fur around the hooves is restricted! Could the horses have broad appearance options that tell us a general picture instead of details? A: We do not currently have plans to change the trait lists of horses. As they are intended to be the MAIN mount available, they are prioritized for the amount and variability of their traits. Q: Eyo. It's real easy to miss when Member Run Events are posted in #Promotions right now. Can we have a @MemberEvent role or something so that the hosts of member run events can mass ping interested people whenever they post stuff relevant to their events? Please and thanks A: We have decided to start posting member events onto the Quest Board as a means to get them more attention as they do still count for participation to earn a new OC Slot or Sphere. Q: I think the travel exception for big quests like falole and the summer and winter festivals should remain in place! Mechanics are very fun but if it’s actively preventing people from being able to join an rp, then it feels out of place and counterproductive to an rp group, whose main drive should be facilitating rps. An exception once every two months is very small. A: We as a team feel we will continue the travel requirement for events like the Falole festival, as these sort of hindrances give better odds to people living in the home village to actually participate in these sorts of event. With how fast they can fill up, someone getting stuck on the road may be the chance someone needs to make it in! Besides which, traveling is and always will be a risky venture, a party will not suddenly make it an easy journey! Q: Hey mods! Thanks for all the hard work you've been doing for the group lately! I just wanted to ask if maybe the 500 token cost for job changing could be removed ;o; The freedom with being able to explore jobs has been one of the highlights of the job mechanic and something we are always telling new members to enjoy as they get to know how the group works. It's how a lot of characters reflect having two jobs. It's just kind of discouraging that for this entire group's life jobs have had more freedom, but this paywall is now a pretty clear message that we should not be doing that and should only stick to one job. Q: The Moving and Job Changes made on April 23rd, 2024, are a good change to Roots. The implementation of a token price to moving and changing jobs, however, feels as if it conflicts with one of Roots' main appeals: letting a character grow and explore by their own merits. The 500 token price is somewhat steep for members who prefer to play Roots through a more casual pace, where they rely upon daily activities and gradual growth as opposed to milestone achievements such as quests, events, submissions and similar sources of tokens. The cooldowns placed for jobs and moving respectively, and the application changes necessary to finalize those changes, seem like a fair means of slowing down how often a character changes villages and jobs alone. A: For the time being, we intend to keep the fee for changing career or home village. Within the setting of Roots, such a radical change in one’s life SHOULD be a big deal, and specifically on changing jobs, there would be a huge investment in time to learn the skills needed to successfully change careers. While we do not want to stifle creativity, we on the mod team feel the ability to change jobs has been taken advantage of, and for now we want to see if the cost is too expensive to reflect such a major change. As always, job vouchers exist and stay tuned for if we run another Job Fair event. Q: Roots of the Wild's monster tables and encounters are an exciting feature in the RP that make for surprising and fun scenarios. Now that the systems are coming together to form a more cohesive picture on Roots' mechanics, it may be worthwhile to give the option for characters to retreat non-tier5+ encounters. This function already exists within traveling mechanics. That's a great thing! It gives non-crafting characters a chance to use their stamina, a function that otherwise goes neglected outside of crafting and exploration. It would be great to expand this function, so that daily rolls and exploration can be less punishing, more challenging, and appropriately resource reliant. A: We have recently rebalanced the less than Tier 5 monster table to be less punishing and hopefully not trap someone in a death loop so often. We have no plans to make an option to run from sub tier 5 monsters. The only place you encounter them is when your character is taking a knowing risk to do so. If you do not feel the risk of a sub tier 5 monster is worth your action, perhaps you should not do it! Q: hi! suggesting a new crafting option for the Craftsman job, since we were chatting and some people had desires for the job to have more importance. What if the Craftsman had the option to create consolidated Bundles for the purposes of exploration? Normally you need 2 slots (1 bundle of 10 wood, and 1 bundle of 5 eldin ore) to secure a quadrant. The craftsman would be able to use their stamina and spend those same materials to create a special bundle that takes up only 1 slot instead, freeing up space for other items to be taken in an expedition instead. Could call it a 'Road Bundle' or something along those lines. To keep it exclusive to crafters and stop others from using job vouchers, rules could be put in place similar to how only dedicated Researchers can appraise relics. (In the far future, for extreme environments such as mountains and seas, maybe Craftsman could get further use by letting them craft Bundles designed to allow parties to explore otherwise inhospitable zones. Ex. To explore into an area that's exclusively water, a party will have to spend an Oceanic Bundle, which can be crafted by a craftsman.) A: We on the mod team feel that Exploring has enough going on as it is, and do not feel the need to add job specific tasks to add to the rules load. As for now, exploration teams have been returning with more than a surplus of items prepared, so we do not see a need to condense items to save on slots.

  • June 2023 Bi-Annual Feedback Survey

Hi Roots! Thank you so much to all members that filled out the feedback survey, as this feedback helps us grow as a team and adjust to what members need most. First, we’d like to start with what things we’ve changed between getting the responses and replying ourselves. The time for official group roleplays has remained the same, but both a member cap and paragraph cap were tried in the current Summer Bloom. As each were a success, these will be the norm going forward, alongside no posting order. The ic-chat was created to give members an easier outlet to roleplay without it having to be in an official group roleplay and subjected to those rules. We’ve been making an active effort to correct less when it’s not demanded. With all of that out of the way, here are more topics we wanted to break down. Mechanics Many commented on the mechanics in Roots in some capacity, whether it was the lack of some job mechanics or the newly released travel mechanic being confusing. Behind the scenes, we are working on keeping the travel mechanic as streamlined as possible and clarifying parts of it that were confusing. As for the combat mechanic and job mechanics, all of these are being developed with care and are taking a little long due to the need to make them as simple as possible but as fun as possible. Please be patient with us! For those with OCs that have very laidback perks, we do have a wide variety of other jobs that your other characters can dabble in for more fun. Quests and Events About quests, many people did request less roleplay quests due to burn out. While we changed things with the roleplay quests and members seem to be more receptive to them, we still aim to have a variety of quests, including combat quests/events that you can look forward to in August! As for plot events, we also want to resume those this year and have been diligently digging through the worlds of both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom for ideas! Of course, nothing from the newest game would be present in Roots until our six month moratorium on TOTK content outside of #spoilers is up. Hopefully the interactive cooking event was interesting for those who wanted interactive events? We hope to do these more often. Speaking of the plot, a few new members have joined since it was announced and a few older members have come back from being inactive, so you can find a link with all important historical Hyrule events below. https://www.rootsofthewild.com/lore Miscellaneous Things We’re sorry the blupees going on for so long was so frustrating to some of you! Because of the wide range of schedules within Roots, we thought it best if people had as many opportunities to catch blupees as possible, but didn’t mean to make you feel as though you had to be there each day to try to catch one. There were two vague responses mentioning some mechanics were complicated and member feedback wasn’t listened to, but without specifics. Without specifics, we can’t grow, so please let us know what the exact issues there are! One member suggested making a beginner’s guide to Roots. As we are all Roots veterans on the mod team, we’d love it if our members would collaborate to make one! Think of what made you the most confused when first joining Roots and what tips you’d have for newbies. The monsters got tougher in both daily rolls and travel purposely! As Roots enters a new era, the difficulty of these encounters will amp up, just as the heart capacity of the characters do too. Rudania and Vhintl have the most active members, so we will be focusing quests there, though Inariko will still be included.
