Events & Quests
Events and Quests are active mechanics for Roots of the Wild. Participating in these functions is one of the main ways to earn character slots and Spirit Orbs. In addition members can gain armor, weapons, tokens, and special items through these.
Events
Events are large, inescapable occurrences within Roots of the Wild that affect all characters, whether they like it or not! Events will very often cause changes to mechanics, like the weather, daily rolls, and the abilities of some classes to perform their class skill. Any changes of this magnitude do not go unnoticed, so do not worry, you'll be given warning! While the event is occurring, new temporary mechanics may come in to play, so be ready for some new experiences! Of course, such events are often great fodder for some art or role play scenarios too, so take full advantage while you can! As is the nature of events in life, in Roots, these are temporary, so either enjoy the ride, or gather your provisions and camp it out, and either way it will be over before you know it!
How Events Work
Due to the nature of events, each one will have its own custom set of rules and details. As a blanket statement, most quest rules also apply to event rules in some way.
Similar to Quests, there are different types of events that will be held; be it art or interactive.
All rules and information surrounding an event will be clarified at the time of said event.
Quests
In Roots of the Wild, quests are smaller, optional, fun timed tasks anyone can partake in for a nifty reward! Quests take one of three forms: art/ writing, interactive, and role play. Art/ writing quests take the form of a prompt that you will be expected to work with, offering a reward for a submission of suitable effort which would be detailed in the quests description, and yes, collabs are often allowed! Interactive quests are usually additional rolls done in one of our community servers, you will often be given a command to input unique to the quest, and will be able to follow along the commands as they come to you!
Rewards for these tend to take the form of what ever you get from your directed rolls, with additional prizes often tied to someone finding particular hidden things! Finally, role play quests are larger group role plays, often with Mod direction or at least a mod opening prompt. Rewards are given for adequate participation, but those who go above and beyond will also be given their due! While these are the three usual types, on occasion special quests may happen that take entirely new formats, so expect those to be explained in greater detail when they come!
Quests will always have a time limit and will give an explicit date and time for both the start and end of the quest.
How Quests Work
Every other month, when quests occur, they will be posted in the 🔑》quests-board channel, as well as a blog post here on the site!
Sign Ups
Sign ups for all quests are now handled through the Tinglebot! In order to sign up for any given quest, please go to the #🔔》sheikah-slate and use the command /quest join. After that, your quest role will be added to you for the duration of the event.

Quest Rules
🔹 Member-Capped Quests
Some quests have a limited number of player slots. These are called member-capped quests.
✅ You may only sign up for ONE member-capped quest at a time.
❌ You cannot sign up for more than one capped quest at once, even if there are multiple available.
⏳ If a member-capped quest is still not full after 1 week, then members who are already in another capped quest may sign up for an additional one.
Example: If three quests are posted and each one has a cap of 5 people, you can only pick one of them to sign up for. A week later, if one of them still has empty slots, you’re allowed to sign up for it even if you're already in a different one.
🔹 Signup Deadlines by Quest Type
Art / Writing / Interactive Quests:
No signup deadline. You may join at any time while the quest is still active.RP Quests:
You must sign up within 1 week of the quest being posted. After that, signups are closed.
🔹 RP Quest Participation Rules
🧍♂️ One OC Per Quest
You may only participate with one character per quest, unless the quest specifically says multiple are allowed. You cannot switch OCs later. You cannot sign up twice with different characters. One quest = one OC.
📝 Post Count Requirement
Each RP Quest will list a minimum number of posts required (usually between 15–20) for your OC to receive rewards. If you don’t meet the post minimum by the time the quest ends, you will not earn any rewards.
✍️ Post Length Limit
You may write up to 2 paragraphs per post.Do not go over this. Shorter is okay, but longer is not. With the Tinglebot now tracking RP posts for events, please keep in mind that these posts DO NOT count towards your post req:
• Messages under 20 characters
• Just emojis or reactions
• GIFs/stickers without text
• Messages with "))" (reaction posts). This also includes any instance of '))' within the post itself, so please do NOT use it.
• Just numbers, symbols, or punctuation
• Single words repeated multiple times
• URLs, mentions, or pings only
• Keyboard mashing or spam
• Messages with less than 30% letters
If you would like to make any meta comments about the ongoing RP, please use the #Gossip stone and #Mossy stone channels, or format your comments in the thread "like this text lorem ipsum yada yada ))" - messages with this format don't count as RP posts.
🎲 Special Rewards Rule
If a quest has a special item or bonus that’s rolled for, you may only roll for special rewards in the first RP quest you joined. This keeps things fair and prevents people from joining multiple quests just to get better odds.
🔹 Rewards via the Tinglebot
All applicable rewards will now be distributed via the Tinglebot, but this means that for submitted quests like Art and Writing quests, you MUST include the Quest ID in the submission if you want to get your extra tokens or rewards. If you do not include this ID, you will NOT get the bonus associated with the quest! Please be mindful while submitting, and get your hard-earned reward!
🔹No Double Dipping
If a quest or event already has a guaranteed reward, you cannot submit that quest content again for additional token rewards.
This applies to RP, writing, and art quests.Example: If an event gives you 10 tokens automatically, you can’t also submit the same work through the /submit command for more tokens.
Quest Vouchers
Sometimes quests get posted and members are unable to sign up for the member capped ones before they fill up. In order to make things a bit more fair for those who miss sign ups, the mod team has come up with a Quest Voucher System.
How it works: If a member was unable to participate in 2 consecutive member capped quests, and have previously signed up for them; they are eligible for a Quest Voucher. To claim this voucher they must DM the Admin Account and mark somewhere in a tracker.
Quest Vouchers guarantee the holder a spot in the next round of member capped quests. The voucher holder has 1 week (or less if the quest calls for it, the mod team will clarify at the time of the quest) to sign up before that spot is open to the rest of the group.
Group members are allowed, even encouraged, to come up with their own quests to run for your fellow members!
You can propose and host one yourself using the dashboard. Mods will review your proposal and help refine it if needed. Once approved, it will be posted automatically and you will run the quest.
Some notes for these member quests:
• Rewards must come from your own inventory
• Mods do NOT supply items or tokens
• Maximum duration is 2 weeks
• Member quests count toward Spirit Orbs and character slots
• Interactive quests MUST include full tableroll table definitions for mod setup

Quest Turn-Ins
Once a member has done a total of 10 Quests (including member-run quests), they may turn in those quests for either one Spirit Orb, or one Character Slot. This can be done at every 10 quest-milestone!
Turning In Quests
How to use the command /quest turnin:
Check your quest progress:
• Each completed quest = 1 pending turn-in.
• You need 10 pending turn-ins for every reward.
If you’re unsure how many you have, run /quest stats and look at:
• Pending Turn-Ins: total you’ve banked
• Sets Ready: how many full bundles of 10 you can redeem
Open the command:
• Go to 🔔》sheikah-slate
• Type /quest turnin and press Enter to open the form
Pick your reward:Reward is required — choose one:
• Character Slot → adds +1 character slot to your account
• Spirit Orb → gives 1 Spirit Orb to a chosen character
If you pick Spirit Orb, a character field appears:
• Start typing your character’s name
• Click the correct one from the list (only your characters appear)
Submit the command:
• Double-check your reward (and character, if applicable)
• Press Enter or click Confirm
What the bot does:
• Verifies you have at least 10 pending turn-ins
• Deducts 10 from your pending total
• Grants your reward:
– Character Slot: instantly adds to your account
– Spirit Orb: adds to the selected character’s inventory
• Sends you a private embed showing:
– Reward granted
– Updated totals
– Remaining pending turn-ins
– Progress toward your next reward bundle
Common checks if it doesn’t work:
• “Not enough pending turn-ins” → you need 10+
• “Please specify a character” → required only for Spirit Orbs
• Duplicate redemption → each bundle of 10 can only be redeemed once
Tips
• Redeem as soon as you hit 10 to keep things tidy
That’s all — redeem again each time you earn another 10 pending turn-ins!
Legacy Quests
For all our members who have been here since before the Tinglebot, we have a way to transfer over your old quests that aren't logged in the bot!
How to use the command /quest transfer for legacy quests:
What counts as “legacy”?
• Anything completed before October 1, 2025.
• If it happened in October 2025 or later, it’s already tracked in the bot — don’t add it again.
What numbers do you need?
•Total_completed: The total number of legacy quests you finished before Oct 2025.
If you kept track in a spreadsheet, document, or other means, grab that number.
Example: “I did 37 quests total before the new bot.”
•Pending_turn_ins: How many of those old quests are still waiting to be turned in.
This must be less than total_completed.
If you redeemed everything back then, set this to 0.
Example: “Out of those 37 quests, I still needed to redeem 12—so I’d enter 12.”
How to run the command (step-by-step):
Go to 🔔》sheikah-slate
Type /quest transfer and hit Enter so the form pops up.
Fill the fields:
•total_completed: your legacy total (pre–Oct 2025)
•pending_turn_ins: how many you still hadn’t redeemedDouble-check:
• Pending is not higher than total
• You didn’t include any quests completed on or after Oct 1, 2025Hit Submit. The bot will quietly DM you a confirmation embed.
What you’ll see after running it:
• A private message showing:
• Transferred quests: how many legacy quests were added
• Pending turn-ins: how many legacy quests still need redeeming
• All-time total: legacy + new bot-tracked quests
• Progress: how close you are to your next reward set
Important notes:
• This is a one-time import. Once it’s done, the bot locks it in—so make sure your numbers are right.
• If you try to re-run it, the bot will notify you that the transfer was already used.
• If you’re unsure what to enter, DM the admin account or ask in FAQs—we’ll walk you through it!
