Pets and Perk Pets
So you’ve probably seen OCs with birds or remlits and wondered, “How do I get one of these cool lil pals for my own OC?” or maybe you haven’t! Either way, this page will answer that question and more.
Having trouble figuring out what your pet can be? Use this Pet Helper!

Pets
Even a setting like Roots of the Wild wouldn’t be complete without animal companions to keep your OCs company. Luckily, getting a regular pet is as easy as deciding they have one—and adding it with the bot!
Anyone can create a pet at any time using: /pet add
These pets are flavor-only until they’re trained. They won’t be able to roll for loot or interact with the Tinglebot's resource system until upgraded, but they can still appear in your RP, art, and lore however you’d like.
✅ What counts as a Regular Pet?
Pretty much anything! We've expanded what counts as a regular pet—your OC can have almost any species, as long as they can realistically care for it. Here are some examples:
Domestic or common animals:
Dogs, cats, rabbits, frogs, birds, lizards, ferrets, pigs, sheep, goats, cuccos, cows, etc.
Wild animals:
Wolves, foxes, coyotes, lynxes, hawks, owls, jungle cats, mountain goats, etc.Unusual but natural species:
Exotic birds, rare lizards, snakes, turtles, or other non-domestic animals that exist in nature but aren’t considered monsters.
If you’re unsure if your idea qualifies, feel free to ask the mod team before adding it to the bot.
Note: While you can register any pet with /pet add
, it won’t do anything mechanically until it’s upgraded through training.
🧪 What regular pets can’t do (yet):
They cannot roll for items, prey, plants, or monster parts.
They do not interact with Tinglebot loot systems until trained.
They don’t count toward your Perk Pet limit until upgraded.
❗ Special Pets (Require Mod Approval)
Certain pets are classified as special and require mod approval before being added to the bot, even as a regular pet. These pets often have unique abilities, combat potential, or rarity that makes them distinct. They are typically acquired through quests, events, or giveaways.
If your OC has one of these, it must be approved first—even if you're not using it to roll yet.
Special Pets include:
Chain Chomp
Chuchu
Choir Frog
Keese
Moink
Pol's Voice
Pygmy Octorok
Remlit
Sand Seal
Walltula
Small Special (for unique small species not otherwise listed)
Large Special (for unique large or powerful species not otherwise listed)
These creatures are considered rare or magical by in-universe standards, and their presence should be tied to story, acquisition, or approval.
Perk Pets

Perk Pets are pets that have been trained to assist your OC by rolling for loot in the Town Hall channels using the Tinglebot. Once a pet has perks, it becomes a functional part of the item and resource system—regardless of your OC’s job.
These pets might be rare species, monsters like Chuchus, or even regular animals that have been trained over time. Whether earned through events or raised from scratch, Perk Pets are a great way to bring your companion into gameplay.
🌀 How It Works
Perk Pets roll once per week per level
Level 1 = 1 roll/week
Level 2 = 2 rolls/week
Level 3 = 3 rolls/week (maximum)
Each OC may only have one active Perk Pet at a time
Rolls must be done in the Town Hall channels using
/pet roll
Pets that are obtained through quests, events, or rare drops often begin at Level 1 automatically. Pets that are trained from regular companions will need to start at Level 0 and be upgraded using Tokens.
🛠️ Perk Training
If your OC has a regular pet they want to train, you can upgrade it into a Perk Pet using the Tinglebot command: /pet upgrade
Each level costs Tokens and represents your OC spending time, effort, and energy bonding with and training the pet:
Level 1 – 5,000 Tokens
Level 2 – 10,000 Tokens
Level 3 – 20,000 Tokens
🔁 Training levels must be purchased one at a time. You cannot skip directly to Level 2 or 3.
Some species are better suited to training than others. Most animals can be trained, but if you’re unsure whether a specific species qualifies for perks, just ask the mod team first!
All pet commands that are NOT /pet roll should be done in the #Community-Board. This means /pet add, /pet upgrade, /pet view, and /pet edit!
Overview
In order for your pet to roll for loot, it must first be registered with the Tinglebot.
All pets—whether flavor-only or trained perk pets—are added using the command: /pet add
This allows you to fill out a basic pet profile, including species, size, and roll type. The process is similar to uploading an OC.
🐾 Training & Upgrading
If your pet wasn’t earned through an event, it starts at Level 0 and will need to be upgraded before it can roll.
Use the command: /pet upgrade
To begin leveling your pet through Token-based training.
Token Costs:
Level 1 – 5,000 Tokens
Level 2 – 10,000 Tokens
Level 3 – 20,000 Tokens
Each upgrade must be purchased one level at a time—you can’t skip ahead.
Once upgraded, your pet’s available roll commands will depend on their assigned species and roll type, which determines what kinds of loot or resources they can search for each week.
🔍 Not sure what type to assign your pet? Refer to the pet type breakdowns or ask a mod for help choosing a category that fits their behavior and role!

Perk Pet Rolling and More
Once your pet has been trained, rolling for your pet is as simple as using /pet roll in one of the Village Townhalls! If your character is in Inariko, then your pet is also rolling for its loot in the Inariko Town Hall! As a reminder, every other /pet command will be rolled exclusively in the Community Board. Only /pet roll needs to be in the correct Town Hall Channel!
Your pet roll type will determine which tables your pet can roll from! For example, your pet wolf who rolls as a Guardian has two options: rolling for large prey, or rolling for monsters! Below you'll find information on all the potential pet rolls you will have access to with a perk pet!
lgpetprey: Pet hunts larger game (large pets only)
petforage: Pet forages for plants & misc.
petmon: Pet hunts small monsters & forages for parts
petprey: Pet hunts small game.
petelectricchu: Pet chuchu sheds yellow jellies
peticechu: Pet chuchu sheds white jellies.
petfirechu: Pet chuchu sheds red jellies.
petchu: Pet chuchu sheds jellies.
Chuchus:

Chuchu are one of the few monster pets that are available via an egg! The methods of obtaining them include rewards during events, looting one from other chuchus, or compressing 100 chuchu jelly into an egg. All hatched chuchu start at Lv1 with petchu as their only rolling option, and have a name randomly assigned. This can easily be changed with the /pet edit command!
In order to hatch a chuchu, or compress chuchu jelly, simply use the /item command in the #Community Board! From there, you may select your chuchu egg to hatch it, or 100 chuchu jelly in order to form an egg.
Unlike other perk pets, Chuchu have the potential to change their element to adapt to the region they live in! The initial change must be instigated via an elemental item. This will be implemented in the TInglebot in the future, so look out for updates!
Once a chuchu is in it's elemental state, it cannot return to the original default form. An elemental chuchu that moves officially to a new region with it's owner will always take on the element of that region.
Pet Retirement and Storage
In the future, you will be able to retire your pet in order to make space for another one. Implementation pending!
