GENERAL RULES
This is an 18+ group. Anyone under the age of 18 will not be permitted to join.
NSFW content should only be posted in designated NSFW channels. All other areas must remain work-friendly.
Do not post explicit content of underage characters or characters who appear underage.
Follow general internet etiquette. Respect the members of this server at all times. This includes misgendering other members or their OCs.
This is an LGBTQIA+ friendly space. We do not tolerate homophobia, transphobia, racism, ableism, or any form of bigotry.
Swearing is allowed, but slurs will not be tolerated. Avoid derogatory terms such as "Jap," "Gypsy," "Eskimo," etc.
Keep stressful real-life topics to a minimum. Many members use this space as an escape from real-world stress
ROLEPLAY ETIQUETTE
No God Modding — do not control another member’s OC without permission. This includes assuming what their character would do in hypothetical or noncanon situations.
No Metagaming — do not give your OC knowledge they do not have access to. For example: knowing the backstory of another OC you haven’t interacted with IC, unless you have explicit permission.
Respect IC/OOC Boundaries — IC conflict does not equal OOC conflict. Keep player relationships positive.
Communicate Before Serious Scenes — Get consent before initiating scenes that involve serious injury, trauma, or permanent character effects.
Respect pacing and tone — Not every RP scene is fast-paced action. Avoid derailing the tone of ongoing RP unless agreed upon.
MEMBERSHIP & ACTIVITY
As of 7/11/2023, the group has a 60 member cap.
Travelers (potential members) have 2 weeks from their join date to become full members or will be removed.
As of 7/1/2024: The group now has a stricter activity check policy. Members inactive for three consecutive checks will be removed, with removal on the third check. This replaces the previous one-year inactivity rule.
Display name format: Your Name | OC Name(s). Exact formatting is flexible — you may list 1 or 2 OCs that you use most often.
ART & CONTENT
Art Theft will not be tolerated in RotW. This includes tracing existing works without permission or credit, or claiming artwork as your own — for any purpose (selling, app art, or participation).
AI Art may not be presented as personal work or for apps/participation. You may, however, share AI-generated imagery for inspiration or ideas.
PRIVACY & IDENTITY
Do not share personal information about other members — even vague information like state/province or gender they don’t go by online.
No inappropriate display names or profile images. This includes IDs, usernames, avatars, "now playing" statuses, or other elements visible on your profile. Violations will result in a rename or ban at Staff discretion.

To help keep RotW a safe place, we maintain a publicly displayed Trigger List.
By joining RotW, you agree to be continually mindful and respectful of this list.
Triggers may not be mentioned or alluded to within the server — whether in text, image, or voice chats.
If you need to request an addition to the Trigger List, message the mods.
This list is for serious triggers only — not personal dislikes or things that make you uncomfortable. Please note: due to the nature of the group’s setting, we may not be able to accommodate every request.
A trigger is something that significantly affects your emotional state, causing extreme overwhelm, distress, panic attacks, or PTSD.
We maintain this list to help protect people who have experienced trauma from being retraumatized.
Safe Phrase: “WindFish says No”
When this phrase is posted in chat, members must stop the current conversation — no questions asked — and move on to another topic.
Willful or constant disregard for either the Trigger List or the Safe Phrase will result in removal from the group.
Trigger topics are NOT to be mentioned or alluded to in any form. By joining RotW, members agree to respect the Trigger List.
Media & Links Containing Triggers:
If you share media or links that contain a listed trigger, you must tag it clearly and ensure the trigger is not depicted directly in your post.
Failure to do this will result in a warning.

These are heavy or depressing topics that should generally not be discussed in server, as we aim to keep the environment safe and relaxing for everyone.

You may acknowledge a pet passing, but keep it vague — no traumatic details.
If describing OC hunting, do not include injuries. Example: "Hunter shot the deer with an arrow." "Hunter skinned the deer and prepared the meat."
Members will typically not receive warnings for light mentions unless graphic — but you may be asked to stop. If you do not stop when asked, you may be warned.
Please help keep Roots a safe and relaxing space by avoiding these topics.
Remember: You can always use the safe phrase “WindFish says No” to stop any conversation that is triggering or uncomfortable.
ENFORCEMENT & STRIKES
4 Strike System:
1st — Bot warning + 1 hour mute
2nd — Bot warning + 24 hour mute
3rd — Bot warning + 1 week mute
4th — Permanent ban
Rule breaking will result in a formal warning. Repeat offenses will lead to disciplinary action, up to and including being banned from the group.
IMMEDIATE BAN OFFENSES
Posting explicit content of underage characters or characters appearing underage.
Harassment and bullying of members.
Intentional disregard for RotW’s trigger list or safe phrase.
Members who fail to follow these rules will be removed from the group immediately.

Roots of the Wild’s mod team reserves the right to update and/or change rules as needed. If changes are made, an announcement will be posted so all members may review.
