Job Perk: Boosting
Boosting is an active Job Perk Mechanic for the Roots of The Wild.
The general idea planned for this mechanic is that characters will be able to boost and assist other characters in their daily jobs, rolls, and more!
Jobs With this Perk
Entertainer \ Fortune Teller | Teacher | Priest | Scholar
As of 6/4/2025, the Minstrel and Performer roles have been combined into a single job: Entertainer.

🛠️ How to Use /boosting to Get or Share Buffs
The /boosting command helps members ask for short-term buffs, lets boosters approve them, and keeps everything organized automatically. All subcommands live under the same slash command, so you only need to remember one name: /boosting.
🧾 What the /boosting Command Does
When you use /boosting, the bot:
Lets a member request a buff from another character.
Creates a Request ID and pings the booster so nothing gets lost.
When the booster accepts, the bot spends 1 stamina from the booster and starts a 24-hour timer.
Posts embeds with the full details so everyone can follow along.
Handles the special “Other” boosts (Fortune Teller weather, Entertainer Song of Storms).
Allows checking or cancelling a request at any point.
📍Where to Use These Commands
Always run /boosting commands inside your village’s Town Hall channel or community board channel. The bot checks the channel and expects both characters to be in the same village (except if you’re on the dedicated testing channel).
✅ Before You Try /boosting request
You must own the character asking for the boost. The booster can belong to another member.
Both characters must already be located in the same village.
The booster’s job must actually offer that buff. Supported boosting jobs: Fortune Teller, Teacher, Priest, Entertainer, Scholar.
The requesting character cannot already have a pending or active boost.
Scholar Gathering boosts need you to fill the optional village field so Cross-Region Insight knows which village’s item table to access.
🚫 Request Gets Blocked If…
❌ The character names are wrong or you don’t own the target character you entered.
❌ The command is used outside the Town Hall or community board channels (testing channel is the only exception).
❌ Booster’s job doesn’t provide that category, or you’re trying to trigger a passive perk manually.
❌ The target already has a pending or active boost.
❌ Scholar Gathering boosts are missing the village option.
💬 Step-by-Step: Requesting a Boost
Open your village’s Town Hall or community board channel.
Type /boosting request.
Fill in:
Character: Your character who needs the boost.
Booster: The character who will give the boost.
Category: Looting, Gathering, Crafting, Healer, Stealing, Tokens, Traveling, or Other.
Village (only for Scholar Gathering): Choose the remote village you want to gather from.
Submit the form.
After submission:
The bot creates a Request ID.
It posts an embed with the full details.
It pings the booster’s owner to accept within 24 hours.
🪄 Step-by-Step: Booster Accepting
Booster’s owner goes to the same Town Hall/community board channel.
Run /boosting accept.
Fill in:
requestid: Pick from auto-complete or copy the number from the embed.
character: Enter the booster character’s name.
Submit.
The bot then:
Confirms you own that booster.
Checks that the job matches the category.
Spends 1 stamina from the booster.
Activates the boost for 24 hours.
Posts the “Boost Applied” embed.
🔍 Checking on a Boost
Use /boosting status with your character’s name in your Town Hall/community board channel).
If a boost is active, you see the effect, booster, time remaining, and when it ends.
If a request is pending, you see who was asked, what the effect will be, and how long until it expires.
If it’s expired, the bot clears it out and lets you know.
🎭 Using “Other” Category Boosts
To trigger special boosts, use /boosting other in the same channel.
Fill in:
charactername: Your character who has the “Other” boost.
effect (optional): Pick Fortune Teller or Entertainer for clarity.
village (optional): Only used when that boost was a Scholar Gathering effect.
The bot looks for an accepted “Other” boost and runs the right effect:
Fortune Teller: Reveals tomorrow’s weather for Rudania, Inariko, or Vhintl (random unless you pick a village).
Entertainer: Plays Song of Storms and schedules a random special weather. Entertainers can also run Song of Storms on themselves even without an active boost.
Once the effect fires, the boost is marked fulfilled and you’re free to start another request.
🌟 Special Cases (Why They’re Different & How to Use Them)
Scholar Gathering (Cross-Region Insight):
Why it’s special: Scholars can let a target gather from another village’s loot table without moving there.
How to use it: When you run
/boosting request, pickGatheringas the category and set thevillageoption to the village you want to borrow from. After the booster accepts, the buff stays active for 24 hours and your character can gather as if they were standing in that village. Use your gathering command as normal during that window.
Remember: If you forget to fill in the
villageoption, the request fails because the bot doesn’t know which village table to use.
Fortune Teller “Other” Boost (Weather Prediction):
Why it’s special: This boost reveals tomorrow’s weather, which can affect multiple village activities. It triggers once, then ends.
How to use it:
Request an “Other” boost with a Fortune Teller as the booster (
/boosting other). When the boost is accepted, run
/boosting otherwith your character’s name.Optional: set the
villageoption if you want to predict a specific village. If not, the bot picks randomly among Rudania, Inariko, or Vhintl. The bot posts an embed showing the village and tomorrow’s forecast, and the boost marks as fulfilled.
Entertainer “Other” Boost (Song of Storms):
Why it’s special: Song of Storms schedules a surprise weather event for the next day and always chooses the village randomly. Manual picks are ignored on purpose.
How to use it:
Request an “Other” boost with an Entertainer booster (
/boosting other).After it’s accepted, run
/boosting other with your character’s name. The bot performs Song of Storms, creates an embed, and the boost ends immediately.
Entertainers can also run Song of Storms on themselves without any active boost—just use
/boosting otherin the right channel and the bot routes it automatically.
🛑 Cancelling a Boost
Use /boosting cancel in the same channel.
You must own the character who requested the boost.
Enter the requestid (auto-complete works here too).
The bot refuses to cancel fulfilled, expired, or already cancelled requests.
If the boost was active, it clears the boostedBy tracking so the character can receive a fresh boost.
🧯 Common Problems & Quick Fixes
❌ “Character not found” → Double-check spelling and make sure you own the character you entered.
❌ “Wrong channel” → Go back to your Town Hall or community board channel before running the command again.
❌ “Village mismatch” → Move both characters into the same village.
❌ “No boost available” → Switch to a booster whose job supports that category.
❌ “Scholar gathering missing village” → Fill in the village option.
❌ “Request expired” → The booster waited more than 24 hours; start a new request.
❌ “Song of Storms ignored my village” → Song of Storms always picks a random village; manual entries only appear in the embed for clarity.
⏱️ Timers to Remember
Boost requests expire after 24 hours if no one accepts.
Active boosts last for 24 hours once accepted.
Cancelling immediately frees the character so you can request again.
