Job Perk: Looting

Looting is an active Job Perk Mechanic for the Roots of The Wild. Characters with this perk can encounter monsters via a dailly RNG rolling system. Depending on if a character wins or loses their encounter they can gather monster drops.

🪙 How to Use /loot to Fight Monsters and Get Items

This command lets your character encounter a monster and potentially loot an item. It’s based on your job, location, and other conditions. Think of it like hunting — sometimes you win loot, sometimes you just survive!

🧾 What the /loot Command Does

When you use /loot, the bot will:

Check your character’s status and job
Check your location and the Discord channel you’re in
Trigger a monster encounter based on your job and region
Run a dice-style outcome roll (you might win, get hurt, or both)
If you win, it loots an item and logs it to your inventory
Saves the result forever (you can’t loot again that day)

✅ What You Need Before You Start

You MUST have:

A created character with a valid looting job
A fully synced inventory sheet
The correct Discord channel (Town Hall of your village)
Not be KO’d, jailed, blighted (stage 4), or debuffed
Not have used /gather or /loot already today (unless using a voucher)

🕓 When Can You Loot?

You can only use /loot once per day, shared with /gather

You cannot loot and gather on the same day
Reset happens at 8:00 AM EST (12:00 UTC) daily

If you try again before reset, the bot will show you exactly when you can loot again

🚫 You CANNOT Loot If…

The bot will stop you from looting if:

❌ You are KO’ed (0 hearts)
❌ You’re in jail
❌ You have Stage 4 Blight
❌ You’re debuffed (bot will show duration)
❌ You’ve already gathered/looted today
❌ You’re in the wrong channel
❌ Your job is invalid or missing the LOOTING perk

🛠 The bot will always tell you what’s wrong so you can fix it.

🎟 What If I Have a Job Voucher?

A job voucher lets you loot even if you already did today

The voucher activates automatically
It gets used up as soon as /loot finishes
If something goes wrong, the voucher is NOT consumed

💬 How to Use the Command

In your Discord server, go to your village’s Town Hall channel

Type: /loot
Select your character name from the list
Press Enter
The bot will handle the rest

🌧 Blight Rain Warning

If Blight Rain is active in your village:

There’s a 75% chance you get infected with blight
If you're already blighted, nothing changes
The bot will tell you what happened

🧟 Monster Encounter

When you use /loot, the bot chooses a monster for your job and region. You will:

Fight the monster automatically
The bot rolls dice in the background to see what happens
You might:
- Win and loot an item 🎉
- Get hit and lose hearts 💔
- Get KO’d 💀
- Get a temporary buff or debuff
- Trigger a raid (rare!)

If nothing happens (very rare), it will say so in a special embed.

🌕 Blood Moon Variant

During a Blood Moon, monsters are stronger and more random.

There’s a higher chance of special encounters
You could trigger:
- A rare monster
- A multi-player raid boss
- A tiered fight (based on monster difficulty)

The loot and damage are often more intense.

🏆 What Happens If You Win?

If you win the encounter and are allowed to loot:

The bot picks a weighted item from the monster’s drop table
If it’s a Chuchu, the loot is jelly (based on element and size)
Quantity depends on the monster
The item is added:
- To the bot's database
- To your Google Sheet (if your inventory is synced and valid)

You will see:

A full message embed with what you got
Your character’s current health
A direct link to your inventory

📋 Inventory Requirements

You MUST have already passed /inventory test and /inventory sync

Your sheet must be:
- A real Google Sheets link
- Named and formatted correctly
- Shared with:
  tinglebot@rotw-tinglebot.iam.gserviceaccount.com

If not, the bot will still record your item internally, but will show an error about syncing.

🧯 Common Problems & Fixes

❌ Problem: Bot says you’re KO’d
💡Solution: Heal your character before looting

❌Problem: Already looted or gathered today
💡Solution: Wait until tomorrow at 8 AM EST, or use a job voucher

❌ Problem: Inventory URL is invalid
💡Solution: Check your link, sheet name, and sharing settings

❌ Problem: You’re in the wrong channel
💡Solution: Move to the correct Town Hall channel for your village

❌ Problem: Bot says your job is missing
💡Solution: Make sure your character has a job, and that job supports looting

❌ Problem: Blighted (Stage 4)
💡Solution: You must be healed by an Oracle, or Dragon before looting again
